[ down they go!! and going to find an appropriate place to sit down and pull up the sleeve of his shirt

there's a crimson red snake bite scar at his elbow, and also a slashed scar across his arm that's probably nothing ]

[he'll sit down next to him, though he frowns down at the scars on his arm]

What happened there? [he gestures to the slash, since he's assuming the snake is the scar he was talking about]

[ TOO MUCH TO HOPE ORE WOULDN'T INSTANTLY CLOCK THAT ]

Would you believe me if I said the carnival? That booth of the Dame's made you, uh, stab people.

[he scowls down at it]

Wish I could say I'm surprised, but I believe it.

[audacity]

Yeah, it was a whole thing.

and...goes to touch the snake bite ]

[sitting down next to him, watching closely]

[ re-experiencing for a few moments...

and then WHEW, grabbing at ore for a hug. or, really, something to hold onto ]

[no, hugs are valid. He'll let Aster grab onto him, hugging him back]

...this is gonna sound weird, but I sort of forgot how bad it was.

[ hesitates ]

For me. Even before finding my Family at the end. It actually kind of did super suck, for me.

[throughbamboo]

. . . you had a rough time. Didn't Unholy fight the monster to help ya?

[audacity]

Yeah, but I couldn't tell you a ton about it. The Dame dropped the monster right on top of me when they asked for the fight. It got me bad enough that I missed the whole thing.

[throughbamboo]

[mutters] That damn woman.

Couldn't even imagine how that had to feel.

[audacity]

Mostly like being bitten a lot.

[huffs softly]

Figured that. That ain't what I meant, smartass.

[there's no heat in it, of course]

[ of course. sighs a little, thinking that over ]

You know Forte tried to take my hand to see if I was really there? It went right through me. Raven kinda tried to toss things at me. Nothing landed. Nothing actually did touch me till the monster tried to kill me. Uh, besides all the Dame's hands and hands and hands and hands that grabbed me in the first place.

[he makes a face at the latter description because that sounds awful]

Jesus. Ain't surprised it still bothers ya, think it'd bother me too.

[audacity]

I didn't think it did.

[ makes a face himself, still holding onto ore ]

Or. I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. I was so sure we were going to die, and then we didn't. But then my Family did. Like the Dame was getting back at me for what Unholy chose...or that's what it felt like. I couldn't even think about what happened with me when what happened to them was so much worse.

[throughbamboo]

That's 'cuz ya worry 'bout everyone before yourself. It ain't a contest or nothin', Aster - terrible shit happened, period.

[audacity]

[ wry sound ]

Is that why? All I know is how much I hated it every time someone said they were glad I'd survived, or that I wasn't there with them, or anything...except that after the Doctor performance? I was saying all the same things to my brother, and you, and Jewel, and Brocade, and everyone.

[he tips his head a bit]
